BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University junior Bec Bennett has been selected as the GNAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week for competition held March 17-23.

Bennett, a junior from Australia, broke her own outdoor school record in the 400m Saturday at the Willie Williams Classic in Tucson, Arizona. Racing against primarily Division I competition, Bennett placed 6th with a time of 54.25 to break her previous WWU best time of 54.54 set at the PLU Open earlier this month.

This marks Bennett's third GNAC Athlete of the Week award this season and second during the early part of the outdoor season. Just over a week ago she earned All-America honors placing 7th at indoor nationals with an indoor PR time of 54.03 for the No. 2 time in GNAC indoor history.

Bennett's 54.25 mark in the 400m is 4th-fastest in GNAC history in the outdoor record book and currently the No. 2 mark in NCAA Division II in 2025 behind 54.20 by Tetiana Kharashchuk of Harding.
