BELLINGHAM, Wash. --- The Western Washington University football team reports for its 2002 fall training camp on Friday, with the first of two-a-day practices beginning Saturday at 10:15 a.m.

Saturday's sessions are the first of six consecutive two-a-day workouts, with players going into full pads for the first time on Tuesday. The first scrimmage of the fall is Sat., Aug. 24 (10 a.m.) at Viking Field on the Western campus, with the final four two-a-day sessions resuming the following morning.

The final scrimmage of the fall is Thurs., Aug. 29 (6 p.m.) at Civic Stadium. After that, Western moves into its regular game-week routine and opens the 2002 season by visiting University of Central Oklahoma on Thurs., Sept. 5.

The Vikings return 15 starters among 35 letter winners from last year's 8-3 squad which won a third consecutive league championship for the first time in school history by going 3-0 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
