Logo Sheet
The purpose of the Trademark Licensing Program at Western Washington University is to protect the name and marks of the University, while enhancing the institution's image. This is ensured through the approval of the use of the marks on high quality, tasteful merchandise.
The Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) is the licensing representative for WWU. As WWU's representative, CLC is responsible for administering the licensing program; including processing applications, collecting royalties and enforcing proper usage. If you are interested in obtaining a license to produce WWU merchandise, contact CLC to obtain an application.
Use of Western Washington University trademarks
Collegiate Licensing Company licenses products that refer to Western Washington University. This includes logos and all of the words such as Western Washington University, Western, WWU and Vikings. It also includes items in which there may be a likelihood of confusion regarding the origin of the goods, such as the use of the words "Western" or "Western Washington" in the school colors, or the use of a likeness of a Viking to imply affiliation with the University.
Potential Licensees:
Western Washington University charges an 10% royalty rate (effective 7/1/24) on the sale of licensed commercial products bearing its name and logos. All manufacturers of products bearing any of the University marks must have a license before offering those goods for sale. Companies interested in becoming a Licensee of WWU must submit an application to the Collegiate Licensing Company. You can obtain our artwork through the Logos on Demand program through CLC.

Campus Departments

Therefore, only official campus departments and Registered Student Organizations are allowed to use WWU trademarks in conjunction with their name. All groups are required to obtain prior approval to use the trademarks of the University in any commercial or non-commercial venture.

If the marks are to be on products used for giveaways or for internal use, it is recommended you use a licensed vendor to produce the item(s).
If the items are for sale you can go through one of our licensed vendors directly. We ask that you use one of our licensees to produce any such items since they are familiar with the procedures of this office and know what is and is not allowed in the use of our marks. These vendors are also affiliated with the Fair Labor Association (FLA) which checks on compliance with a code of conduct in reference to working conditions in the factories.
