The Lou Parberry Strength Center is 4,100 square foot, state of the art training facility centrally located inside the Carver Academic Facility.
Parberry underwent a comprehensive upgrade as part of the Carver Academic Facility renovations, which were completed in Fall 2017. The room was designed by the Strength & Conditioning staff to support the varied training needs of all 15 varsity teams at WWU. The centerpieces of the facility are 8 power racks equipped with resistance bands, chains, roller pads, adjustable benches, bumper plates, band pegs, velocity and power-measuring devices through a partnership with the Kinesiology department, and in-ground hardwood platforms. Other equipment includes cable machines, a full stable of specialty bars, belt squat machine, leg press, posterior chain developers, a large range of dumbbells, kettlebells, and medicine balls, and multiple cardiovascular options, among other features. Â
The facility is limited to varsity athletics use, with faculty and Physical Education classes permitted during assigned timeslots only. Student-athlete training sessions are supervised by the WWU Strength & Conditioning staff and/or varsity sport coaches who hold one or more NCAA approved strength & conditioning certifications.
