BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Despite having a bye week, Western Washington University still jumped two spots to No.15 in this week's American Football Coaches Association/NCAA Division II Coaches' Poll.
The Vikings, who are off to their first 2-0 start since 1996, travel to Moraga, Calif., for a game with NCAA I-AA Saint Mary's (2-2).
The top 10 teams in the AFCA Top 25 remained the same, led by Grand Valley State MI at No.1. UC Davis stayed at No.10 and Central Washington climbed four spots to No.16.
Western moved up one spot to No.10 in this week's Don Hansen's Football Gazette poll and jumped three spots to No.19 in the d2football.com Top 25.
In the latest Division II national statistics, the Vikings are third in passing offense (339.0) and 10th in total offense (457.5).
Individually, Western strong safety Rob White (So., Woodinville/Inglemoor) leads the country in forced fumbles (2.0) and wide receiver Greg Dykstra (Sr., Everson/Lynden Christian) is eighth in scoring (12.0). Quarterback Josh Shimek (Jr., Pasco) is 10th in total offense (287.0) and 11th in passing offense (156.0)
