BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University is competing in the fourth annual Northwest Collegiate Rowing Conference Championships this Saturday (8:15 a.m.) at the North Cove of Lake Stevens. The host of the event is the Lake Stevens Rowing Club.
In all, 13 schools are participating. They include Evergreen, Everett CC, Humboldt State, Lewis & Clark OR, Oregon, Pacific Lutheran, Portland, Portland State, Puget Sound, Seattle Pacific, Washington State, Williamette and Western.
The conference schools are Humboldt State, Lewis & Clark, Pacific Lutheran, Puget Sound, Seattle Pacific, Willamette and Western. Another NCRC school, Seattle University, is not competing this year.
The meet is an exhibition for the remaining six schools.
Western is the defending champion in the men's varsity eight, winning that event two of the last three years. The Vikings took the women's varsity eight race in 2001 and placed second last spring.
