BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University wide receiver Andy Olson (Sr., Chehalis/W.F. West) and punter Michael Koenen (Jr., Ferndale) were honorable mention picks on the D2Football.com All-America team, and linebacker Lann Olson (So., Chehalis/W.F. West) received similar honors on the Dopke.com All-America squad.
Andy Olson became just the fifth player in school history to have 1,000 pass-receiving yards in a season, finishing with 1,063 on 64 catches, including nine touchdown grabs. He ranked eighth nationally in receiving yards per game and 15th in catches per contest.
Lann Olson, Andy's older brother, was credited with 83 tackles, including a team leading 11.0 for losses of 50 yards. Among those were four quarterback sacks.
Koenen ranked fourth nationally in punting with a 43.4 average, having a long of 61 and putting 11 inside the 20-yard line. He led the country in punting in 2002.
Western finished 4-6, but won its final three games to take the Great Northwest Athletic Conference title.
