BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University football quarterback Steve Nichols was named Great Northwest Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for Oct. 31-Nov. 6.
It is the second time this season that Nichols, a senior from Stevenson, has received the honor .
The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Nichols completed 16-of-24 passes for 268 yards and three touchdowns and was not intercepted in Western's season-ending 55-20 victory at Humboldt State.
Nichols, who set a school season record by completing 63.7 percent of his passes, directed the Vikings to scores on their first six possessions.
Nichols passed for 2,292 yards and 22 touchdowns on the season, completing 181 of 284 attempts with 16 interceptions. He ranked fifth among Western career passing leaders with 5,128 yards.
Western finished 6-4 and tied for second in the GNAC standings at 3-3.
