BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University senior punter Michael Koenen (Ferndale) has been named a D2football.com preseason second-team All-American. Koenen was previously named to Don Hansen's Football Gazette preseason All-America team. Koenen enters the season ranked No.2 among northwest small college leaders in punting with a 43.1 career average. He led the nation in punting as a sophomore with a 44.9 average and was No.4 last season at 43.4. Western opens its season at home against Fort Lewis CO on Sept. 4 (1 p.m.).
