BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University offensive center Loren Winter was a second-team choice on the Daktronics Northwest Region All-Star Football Team announced today.
Winter, a 6-foot-1, 270-pound senior from Bothell, will play for the West squad in the 2006 Cactus Bowl Senior All-Star Game on Jan. 7 at Kingsville, Texas.
A graduate of Juanita High School, Winter was one of four Great Northwest Athletic Conference players selected. Western Oregon tight end Kevin Boss and linebacker Jon Apgar were first-team picks, and Central Washington wide receiver Brian Potucek was a second-team selection.
Winter, who made 37 starts over the last four seasons, was a unanimous first-team GNAC all-star, starting all 10 games after being a third-team www.CollegeSportsReport.com preseason All-American.
Winter, a business finance major and a four-year letter winner, also started all 10 games in 2004, receiving honorable mention D2football.com Northwest Region and first-team GNAC all-star honors. He started eight of 10 games in 2003 and started all nine games he played in 2002.
