BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Aleki Pascua, who spent the last three years as a graduate assistant on the University of Oregon football coaching staff, has been named defensive ends coach at Western Washington University. Making that announcement was Viking head coach Rob Smith.
The 30-year-old Pascua worked with the offensive line at Oregon. Prior to that he spent three seasons coaching in the high school ranks, working at Willamette High School and Churchill High School, both located in Eugene, Ore.
Pascua coached the defensive line at Linfield College in 1998, while completing his bachelor's degree in physical education and obtaining his teaching certificate.
A four-year letter winner and two-year starter as an offensive lineman at Linfield, Pascua helped the Wildcats extend the nation's longest streak of consecutive winning seasons into the 40s. He received honorable mention all-Northwest Conference honors as a senior.
A 1993 graduate of Hawaii's St. Louis High School, Pascua played a part in the school's unprecedented 13 consecutive state championships (1987-99), receiving second-team all-Interscholastic League of Honolulu accolades as a senior.
