BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University free safety Todd McClellan has been named North Central Conference co-defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Vikings' 17-14 come-from-behind win over Western Oregon University last Saturday.
McClellan, a senior from Lacey (Timberline High School graduate), had two pass interceptions, one in the end zone following a long drive by the Wolves to open the second half. He also had a team-leading eight tackles, including one for loss, and returned three punts for 30 yards.
The 5-foot-10, 200-pound McClellan ranks second among Western tackle leaders with 53 and leads the team in interceptions (3) and fumble recoveries (3).
McClellan will be one of eight seniors playing in his last home game Saturday (1 p.m.) when Western, 3-6 overall and 1-5 in NCC action, entertains Augustana (5-4 overall, 3-4 league ) at Civic Stadium.
