BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University outside linebacker Steve Davis has been named North Central Conference co-defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Vikings' 35-21 win at Minnesota State, Mankato, last Saturday.
Davis, a sophomore from Kennewick (Kamiakin High School graduate), had a game-high 13 tackles (5 solo and 8 assists) and one pass breakup.
Davis was starting his second game at outside linebacker after being the Vikings' starting strong safety for the first nine contests. He finished as Western's season tackle leader with 69.
Western free safety Todd McClellan had received NCC co-defensive POW honors in each of the last two weeks.
The Vikings completed their campaign with a 5-6 record, finishing with three consecutive victories. Playing in its inaugural season in the North Central Conference, Western tied for fifth place at 3-5.
