BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Klayton Adams will join the Western Washington University football staff and coach the offensive line. Making that announcement was Viking head coach Robin Ross.
The 24-year-old Adams was an assistant offensive line coach the last two years at Boise State University. Last season, the Broncos had a perfect 13-0 record, winning the Western Athletic Conference championship and upsetting No.7-ranked Oklahoma, 43-32 in overtime, in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl.
In his two years as coach, two Bronco linemen earned first-team all-league honors and another received second-team recognition.
Adams played two seasons at Boise State, earning second-team all-WAC honors as a center in 2004. That year, he helped the Broncos finish second in the nation in scoring and set a school record with 48 touchdowns.
Adams graduated from Boise State in May of 2005 with a degree in mass communications/journalism. He was a back-up offensive lineman during his junior season after walking on. Adams got his first start in Boise State's 34-31 win over TCU in the PlainsCapital Fort Worth Bowl.
Before joining the Bronco program, Adams played two seasons at American River College in Sacramento, Calif., earning first-team all-Mid-Empire Conference and second-team all-Northern Cal honors as a sophomore.
Adams is a 2001 graduate of Sheldon High School in Sacramento. He was an all-City selection as a senior and a two-time first-team all-Delta League pick.
