ELLENSBURG, Waah. - Eleanor Siler (Sr., Spokane/Lewis & Clark) won a pair of races and ran the leadoff leg in two victorious relays, highlighting Western Washington University performances Saturday at the Spike Arlt Invitational track and field meet hosted by Central Washington University.

Siler won the women's 200 in 26.20 and the 400 in 58.30. She also teamed with Sydney Coffey (So., Boulder, CO/Niwot), Michelle Howe (Sr., Lakewood) and Valle Ledtke (Jr., Skamokawa/Wahkiakum) to win both the 4x100 relay (49.28) and the 4x400 relay (4:11.02).

Those triumphs were just four of the eight event victories for the Western women, who won the team championship with 226.5 points. Central Washington was second in the seven-team field with 156.5

On the men's side, the Vikings posted 218.5 points to place second behind Central, which was victorious in an eight-school field with 256.

Alex Tilley (Sr., Edmonds/Kamiak) won the 100 meters for the men in 10.99, and joined with Mark Pangilinan (So., Marysville/Marysville-Pilchuck), Shane Gruger (Sr., Shoreline/Shorewood) and Brock Steffen (So., Bellingham) to win the 4x100 in 42.66.

The other big highlight was on the women's side, where Katie Reichart (Fr., Kelso) won the javelin, improving her provisional national qualifying mark by nearly four feet with a toss of 146-9.

The only other provisional qualifying mark for the Vikings was by Cheyenna Pinley (Fr., Bellingham/Squalicum), who finished third in the women's pole vault. Pinley was one of three competitors to clear 11-9 ¾ but was placed third based on total misses.

Also winning women's events were Mary Rogers (Jr., Spokane/Shadle Park), who claimed the 5,000 in 18:46.00; Sierra Brisky (Sr., Acme/Mount Baker), winner of the 10,000 in 38:34.5; and Amber Dodd (So., Samammish/Skyline), who won the 400 hurdles in 1:07.

For the men, Tabor Reedy (So., Poulsbo/North Kitsap) won the 10,000 in 33:52.1; Gabriel Morales (Sr., Renton/O'Dea) was triumphant in the 400 hurdles (57.28); and Thomas Guidon (Jr., Bothell) claimed the pole vault, clearing 14-5 ¼.

"It was windy, so our times weren't close to what we wanted, but on the whole it was a good day," said Western coach PeeWee Halsell "Reichart's mark in the javelin should really move her up nationally"
