MONMOUTH, Ore. - Western Washington University's Jackie Rothenberger (Sr., Coquitlam, B.C./Gleneagle Secondary) hit the second of two home runs with a two-out, two-run blast in the top of the ninth inning as the Vikings rallied for a 7-5 win in the nightcap to split a doubleheader at Western Oregon University in Great Northwest Athletic Conference softball action Sunday, March 24, at WOU Field.

WWU, 14-12 overall and 6-6 in league action, fell 5-4 in the opener despite taking a 4-3 lead in the top of the seventh on two-run homers by Kaleigh Keating (Jr., Salinas, CA/Notre Dame Salinas) and Kristen Allen (Sr., Arlington).

The Wolves, 17-16 overall and 8-4 in GNAC play, won in the bottom of that frame on a two-run single by pitcher Eryka Brill (1-0), who got the win in relief.

There were four lead changes and three ties in the second game. Anisa Wingsness (Fr., North Bend/Mount Si) (4-5) picked up the win with 2-1/3 innings of scoreless relief.

Rothenberger, who now has three homers this season, hit a solo shot in the second, and the Vikings' Jordan Walley (Fr., Maple Valley/Tahoma) had a two-run round-tripper in the third, her fourth of the campaign.

Allen also drove in two runs for WWU on a pair of singles.

WWU continues on the road this week with the fourth and fifth of five straight conference road doubleheaders, going to Central Washington University on Thursday, March 28 (1 p.m.) and to Northwest Nazarene University on Saturday, March 30 (12 noon).
