Box Score

LACEY, Wash. - Redshirt freshman Abby Phelps recorded her team-leading eighth double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs to lead the No. 16 Western Washington Vikings to a three-set sweep (25-14, 25-14, 29-27) at Saint Martin's Saturday night in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball match.

The Vikings (23-5, 17-3 GNAC) completed the regular season in 2nd place in the GNAC, one game behind Alaska-Anchorage (18-2 record after beating Western Oregon 3-0). WWU finished the conference slate a perfect 10-0 on the road. The NCAA Tournament selection show is Monday, Nov. 23 and the NCAA Tournament regionals are slated to start Dec. 3.

"I am extremely proud of how we finished conference play undefeated on the road," said head coach Diane Flick. "We have a group of fighters and they have persevered through a lot of adversity this season. We look forward to the next challenge that awaits us."

The 23 wins are tied for 13th-most in program history and tied for 6th-most in the Flick era (since 2000). Western entered the season having to replace four starters, including a pair of GNAC All-Stars.

Phelps (Manson, WA/Chelan) led Western with 13.5 points, recording 12 kills and 10 digs.

Redshirt freshman middle blocker Kayleigh Harper (Oak Harbor, WA) contributed 8 kills on a .462 hitting percentage and recorded 5 blocks (4 block assists, 1 solo). Redshirt freshman Michaela Hall (Centralia, WA) also added 5 total blocks in the match.

Senior opposite Jennica McPherson (Seattle, WA/Kennedy) narrowly missed the double-double with a team-high 12 digs and 9 kills (.500 hitting percentage).

Saint Martin's was led by 8 kills and a match-high 7 blocks from senior middle blocker Kyra Davidson. SMU ended its season 2-24 overall and 1-19 in GNAC play.
