NORWALK, Calif. - Western Washington University's Katie Reichert (Jr., Longview/Kelso) bettered her NCAA Division II automatic qualifying mark in the women's javelin with a winning throw of 165-7 on Saturday, Apr. 18, at the Beach Track & Field Invitational hosted by Long Beach State on the campus of Cerritos College.

Reichert's mark was a personal best and the second longest in the nation this season. She placed second at nationals last year, finishing just one inch shy of the title.

The Vikings' Travis Milbrandt (Jr., Longview/Mark Morris) improved on his provisional qualifying mark in the men's 110-meter hurdles, placing sixth in 14.30. That broke by .03 seconds the school and Great Northwest Athletic Conference records he set Friday, Apr. 17, at the Mt. SAC Relays.

Teammate Logan Myers (Sr., Olympia/Capital) also was a provisional qualifier, finishing 13th in 14.46.

Matt Lutz (Jr., Bremerton/Olympic) had a PNQ time of 9:12.41 in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase as did Katelyn Steen (Sr., Sammamish/Eastlake) in the women's 5,000 at 16:44.97. Both runners placed fifth in their respective events.

Alex Donigian (Jr., Mission Viejo, CA/Trabuco Hills) was fifth in the men's 100, being clocked in 10.52. He set school and GNAC records the previous day at the Mt. SAC relays with a time of 10.22. Donigian also was ninth in the 200 (21.71).

For the second straight day Megan Mortensen (So., Tacoma/Franklin Pierce) bettered her provisional mark in the women's discus, adding nearly six feet at 154-6.

Slater Hirst (Sr., Shoreline/Kings) won the men's javelin on Friday with a mark of 207-3.
