BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Western Oregon scored 4 runs in the top of the 7th inning, including a go-ahead 2-run home run by junior first baseman Ashlee Lynch, to beat Western Washington 11-8 Sunday morning at Viking Field.

The second game of the planned doubleheader was rained out and has been rescheduled for Monday at 10 am.

The Vikings led 8-7 after scoring four 2-out runs in the bottom half of the 6th inning, including a game-tying 3-run double by sophomore right fielder Sarah Morrow (Enumclaw, WA) and a go-ahead RBI double by senior third baseman Emma Blauser (Federal Way, WA/Todd Beamer.

The Wolves were powered by 13 hits and 3 home runs. Junior third baseman Destiny Kuehl went 3-for-4 with a pair of home runs and 6 RBI from the 9th spot in the batting order.

WWU recorded a pair of four-run innings (3rd & 6th innings), but allowed runs in the following frame each time. The Vikings sent 9 batters to the plate in the four-run 3rd inning, punctuated by a Emily Benson (West Richland, WA/Kamiakin) two-run double.

WOU came right back to tie the game at 4-4 in the top of the 4th inning on a 2-run home run by Kuehl to left field.

Trailing 7-4 in the bottom of the 6th inning, Western rallied for four 2-out runs to take the 8-7 lead. Morrow drilled a 3-2, 2-out pitch into the left-center field gap with the bases loaded to tie the game at 7-7, and Blauser followed with a double off the left field wall to plate the go-ahead run.

The Wolves wasted little time jumping back ahead in their half of the 7th as Mercedes Green led off with a sharp single to right field and Lynch followed with a line-drive homer to left field to put WOU on top for good.

Sophomore starting pitcher Makinlee Sellevold (Everett, WA/Cascade) took the loss allowing a career-high 11 runs (9 ER) to fall to 4-6 on the season.

Morrow (2-for-3, R, 2B, 3 RBI), Sellevold (2-for-4, 2B, RBI) and freshman center fielder McKenna Mathis (Mesa, WA/Connell) each tabbed multi-hit games. Benson went 1-for-4 with 2 RBI to extend her hitting streak to a career-high 8 consecutive games.

The Vikings dropped their fourth consecutive game to fall under .500 on the season with an overall mark of 11-12 and 6-7 in GNAC play. The Wolves improved to 10-10 overall and 3-2 in GNAC play.
