Sophomore Makinlee Sellevold took the game into her own hands, pitching a complete-game 4-hitter to earn the victory and hit the deciding 3-run home run as WWU beat Stanislaus State 4-2.
In the circle Sellevold (Everett, WA/Cascade) scattered 4 hits in her 9th complete game of the season to improve to 6-7 on the season. At the plate she went 1-for-3 with her first home run of the season, a 3-run shot that proved to be the game winner.
WWU took an early 1-0 lead in the 3rd inning on a run-scoring single with two outs by senior right fielder Alexie Levin (Everett, WA).
The lead would be short lived as the Warriors catapulted ahead with a 2-run home run by first baseman Katelyn McDonald, a transfer from WWU.

The Vikings nearly pulled off the doubleheader sweep, but Alex Rowell hit a two-run, two-out double down the left field line to give Stanislaus State a 4-3 walk-off victory.
With WWU leading 3-2, Stanislaus loaded the bases with no outs off relief pitcher Shearyna Labasan (Mililani, HI/Maryknoll). A crafty 3-2-3 double play put the Vikings within one out of the victory, but after a hit batter, Rowell delivered the game-winning hit on a 1-2 pitch.
The Warriors led 2-0 after the 2nd inning, but Western battled back with a 3 runs in the top of the 5th inning. Jordan Walley (Maple Valley, WA/Tahoma) led off the top of the 5th inning with a long home run to cut the deficit to 2-1. It was Walley's first homer of the season and 17th of her career, 4th-most in WWU history.
Senior Arianna Barrio (Stanwood, WA/Lakewood) tied the game with an RBI single up the middle the go-ahead run scored on a bases loaded walk to Levin.
Labasan (8-5) suffered the loss despite a solid effort allowing 2 runs in 5.2 innings. The freshman did not allow a run in her first 5.0 innings in her relief outing.
Walley was 2-for-3 with a double and home run and senior third baseman Emma Blauser (Federal Way, WA/Todd Beamer) went 2-for-3 to record her eighth multi-hit game of the season. Benson went 0-for-3 to have her 16-game hitting streak snapped, falling two short of the WWU record 18-game hitting streak.
Rowell drove in all four runs for the Warriors, going 3-for-4 with a 2-run double (game-winner) and 2-run home run.
