PORTLAND, Ore. - For the second day in a row the Western Washington University Vikings split a Great Northwest Athletic Conference softball doubleheader, going 1-1 Sunday against Concordia at Delta Park.

WWU handled the Cavaliers 12-4 in the first game, but couldn't pull off the sweep falling 8-0 in a 6-inning run-rule shortened second game.

WWU finished its Oregon road trip going 2-2 with doubleheader splits vs. Western Oregon and Concordia to move to 23-20 overall and 12-12 in GNAC play.

Sophomore Makinlee Sellevold (Everett, WA/Cascade) continued her dominance on the mound (and the plate when she pitches) in the first game recording her fifth consecutive win as a starter. She also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a pair of RBI.

Junior second baseman Kali Patterson (Bonney Lake, WA) recorded a hit in each half of the doubleheader, extending her hitting streak to a season-high 7 consecutive games. Patterson continues to lead the Vikings batting .382 (60-for-157).

Senior Jordan Walley (Maple Valley, WA/Tahoma) went 3-for-4 in the doubleheader to lead the Vikings in hits.

Sophomore starting pitcher Makinlee Sellevold again did a little of everything in helping lead the Vikings to a 12-4 win over Concordia in the first game of the GNAC doubleheader Sunday at Delta Park.

Sellevold allowed 4 runs (3 ER) and 7 hits in 6.0 innings to win her fifth consecutive start to improve to 10-7 on the season. Her 35 career wins moved her into 6th place in the WWU record books past current assistant coach Jenna DeRosier (34 wins, 2011-14). Sellevold also went 2-for-3 at the plate with 2 RBI and hit her 9th double of the season.

Sophomore first baseman Emily Benson (West Richland, WA/Kamiakin) went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI and recorded a pair of doubles.

The Vikings fell behind early 2-0 after the bottom of the 1st inning, but got one run back in the top of the 2nd on an RBI double by junior catcher Lynsey Amundson (Arlington, WA). WWU took the lead with a four-run top of the 3rd inning with Benson providing the game-tying sac fly and freshman McKenna Mathis (Mesa, WA/Connell) providing the eventual game-winning RBI on a bunt single.

The Vikings would tack on another run in the 5th inning to extend their lead to 6-2, and after a two-run bottom of the 5th by CU, exploded for five runs in the 6th inning to put the game away.

The Cavaliers were led by a 2-for-4 game from shortstop Taylor Bussey, who hit her 6th home run of the season. Starting pitcher Jessica Lambourn (11-5) suffered the loss allowing 13 hits and 10 runs (6 ER) in 6.2 innings.
