BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Senior first baseman Jordan Walley capped her collegiate career with a pair of Senior Day home runs Saturday as Western Washington University swept a Great Northwest Athletic Conference doubleheader against Saint Martin's College.
The Vikings won the opener 4-3 behind a Walley (Maple Valley, WA/Tahoma) grand slam, then claimed a 7-1 triumph in the nightcap, concluding the season 26-21 overall and 15-13 in the GNAC.
Walley's two homers give her 19 for her career, tied for third-most in school history.
Senior second baseman Lauren Bennett (Tustin, CA/Beckman) had three hits on the day for the Vikings, going 3-for-6 with 2 runs scored. It was the final collegiate competition for Western seniors Walley, Bennett, catcher Taylor Clark (Tacoma, WA/Wilson), third baseman Emma Blauser (Federal Way, WA/Todd Beamer), center fielder Arianna Barrio (Stanwood, WA/Lakewood), utility player Taylor Peacocke (Kenmore, WA/Inglemoor), right fielder Alexie Levin (Everett, WA) and first baseman-pitcher Holly Hawkins (Sedro-Woolley, WA/PLU/Skagit Valley CC).

Jordan Walley hit a two-out grand slam in the bottom of the 3rd inning, lifting the Vikings to a 4-3 triumph over the Saints in the opening game of a GNAC doubleheader.
Saint Martin's had opened up a 3-0 lead with runs in each of the first three innings. But the Vikings responded, as Lauren Bennett singled, Taylor Peacocke doubled, and junior second baseman Kali Patterson (Bonney Lake, WA) loaded the bases with a walk. Two outs later, Walley homered to right to give Western a 4-3 lead.
From there, Holly Hawkins (1-0), making her first pitching start of the season, closed the door, retiring the last 14 SMU batters in a row, the final seven on ground-ball outs.
Alexie Levin and Bennett were each 2-for-3 for the Vikings. Levin's hits gave her 196 for her career, two short of the school record (Michelle Wrigley, 2008-11). Levin is also the WWU career leader in RBI (145).

The Vikings rallied from an early deficit for the third time in the final four games of the season to defeat the Saints, 7-1, in the nightcap of a GNAC doubleheader Saturday at Viking Field.
Western took the lead for good with a three-run 2nd inning on run-scoring singles by Lauren Bennett, Arianna Barrio and Taylor Peacocke, then broke game open with a power display in the 3rd inning.
Jordan Walley led off the inning with a solo homer to left. Then with two out and two on, Taylor Clark crushed a 3-run homer to left, not just clearing the left fence but also a tennis court fence some 40 feet beyond.
Sophomore starting pitcher Makinlee Sellevold (Everett, WA/Cascade) pitched the first 4.0 innings, allowing an unearned run on 2 hits and striking out 5 to earn the victory (12-7). Freshman Shearyna Labasan (Miliani, HI/Maryknoll) closed the game out with 3.0 innings of scoreless relief work to record her second save of the season.
