The Vikings jumped out to an early lead taking the first set 25-16. WWU trailed 11-9, but responded with a 6-0 run to take a 15-11 lead and never looked back outscoring the Nanooks 16-5 over the remainder of the set. Turner and Phelps each had 3 kills in the opening set.

The second set was very similar with the Vikings pulling away with a sizeable run on the way to a 25-21 win. With the set tied 13-13, Western went on a 4-0 run that proved to be a big enough cushion to pull away with the set to go up 2-0. Turner led a balanced Western offensive attack with 3 kills and Harper recorded 4 blocks.

WWU closed out the match with a convincing 25-14 third set, led by 5 kills and 4 digs by Phelps.

Alaska was led by 7 kills apiece from Angela Molesworth and Kim Wong.
