SEATTLE, Wash. - The Western Washington University track & field program competed at the first day of the Husky Classic on Friday with six Vikings in action at the Dempsey Indoor Center on the campus of the University of Washington.

Junior pole vaulter Anna Paradee (Tacoma, WA/Decatur) placed 2nd of 16 in the pole vault, clearing 3.63m (11-10 ¾). Her personal-best height of 3.70m (12-1 ½) set at the Cougar Indoor last weekend is an NCAA II provisional qualifying mark and ranks tied for14th nationally.

Senior distance runner Andrew Wise (Denver, CO/East) was 46th in a competitive 5,000m race featuring many NCAA Division I competitors with a time of 14:54.64. His personal-best time of 14:39.59 set at the UW Invitational in late January is an NCAA II provisional qualifying time and ranks 22nd nationally.

Senior pole vaulter Gordie Kordas (Blaine, WA) placed 9th (4.55m ,14-11) in the pole vault on Friday. His personal-best height of 4.81m (15-9 ¼) is also an NCAA II provisional effort. Senior pole vaulter Jacob Hino (Yakima, WA/Eisenhower) finished tied for 10^th with a height of 4.25m (13-11 ¼).

Junior Bryan Lee (Sammamish, WA/Skyline) was 17th in the weight throw (16.31m, 53-6 ¼) while senior Brandon Pless (Sedro-Woolley, WA) placed 25th (15.07m, 49-5 ½).

Four Vikings are set to compete at the second day of the Husky Classic on Saturday. Many WWU competitors will be in action Sunday at the UW Open.
