PULLMAN, Wash. - Freshman sprinter Macie Allen posted a personal-best time in the 60m dash, tied for 7th best in indoor program history, as the Western Washington University track & field program competed at the second day of the Cougar Indoor on Saturday at Washington State University.

Allen (Gresham, OR/Barlow) recorded a time of 7.99 in the preliminaries of the 60m dash, finishing 13th and improving upon her previous personal-best time of 8.08 set at the season-opening UW Indoor Preview on Jan. 14. Her time is tied for 7th with Rachel Ivancic (2015) on the WWU all-time top 10 list. Allen also posted a 60m dash time of 8.01 in the qualifying race.

Freshman sprinter Alex Taylor (Federal Way, WA) placed 4th in the preliminaries of the 60m dash (7.15) on Saturday and advanced to the finals. He posted a time of 7.14 in the finals, placing 7th. His effort bettered his previous best of 7.29 at the UW Indoor Preview.

Sophomore sprinter Daniel Jones (Ferndale, WA) placed 3rd of 26 competitors in the 200m dash with a time of 23.20 while senior Megan Mortensen (Tacoma, WA/Franklin Pierce) was 3rd of 27 in the shot put with a mark of 12.25m (40-2 ¼).

During the first day of competition on Friday, junior pole vaulter Anna Paradee (Tacoma, WA/Decatur) cleared 3.70m (12-1 ½) on her first attempt at the height to improve upon the NCAA II provisional effort of 3.68m (12-0 ¾) she set at the UW Indoor Preview.

WWU continues the indoor season at the University of Washington next weekend. The Vikings will compete at the Husky Classic (Feb. 10-11) and UW Open (Feb. 12).
