PULLMAN, Wash. - The Western Washington University track & field program closed out the Cougar Indoor on Saturday with four program top-10 marks at the Washington State University Indoor Practice Facility during the second day of the meet.
Sophomore Hannah Bradley (Bellingham, WA) led three Vikings in the 60m preliminaries with a time of 7.98 to qualify for the finals and record the 8th-best time on the WWU top-10 list. She was followed by freshman Kelsey McLean (Kirkland, WA/Juanita) in 6th (8.02), who also qualified for the finals.
Bradley finished 6th in the finals with a time of 8.04 while McLean tied for 7th in a time of 8.05. Freshman Emily Greene (Spokane, WA/Lewis and Clark) recorded a time of 8.14 (13th) in the preliminaries after posting a time of 8.13 in the qualifying race, finishing 3rd.
Sophomore Chanelle Eddy (Bellingham, WA/Sehome/Whitworth) placed 12th in the shot put with a mark of 1.92m (35-10) on Saturday, adding a program top-10 mark for the second consecutive day after recording a personal-best weight throw effort on Friday. Her shot put mark on Saturday ranks in a tie for 6th on the WWU top-10 list.
Sophomore Jewels Oliquiano (Kaneohe, HI/Castle) recorded a program top-10 mark in the pole vault, clearing 3.45m (11-3 ¾) to finish 9th and tie for the 7th-best mark in WWU history. Junior Rachael Roberts (Woodinville, WA/Bellevue College) followed in 11th with a height of 3.30m (10-10).
Freshman Molly House (Auburn, WA/Auburn Mountainview) finished 8th in the 400m with a time of 1:03.58 and was 13th in the 60m hurdles qualifying race with a time of 9.96.
In the high jump, junior Bridget Henry (Bellingham, WA/Sehome) cleared 1.45m (4-9) to finish in a tie for 7th
On the men's side, sophomore Cordell Cummings (Arlington WA) qualified for the finals of the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.60 in the preliminaries before recording a time of 8.46 in the finals to place 3rd with the 7th-best time in WWU top-10 history. Sophomore Aaron Bosscher (Lynden, WA/Cornerstone Christian) was 10th in the preliminaries in a time of 8.87.
Freshman Willie Broxton Jr. (Olympia, WA/Capital) and freshman Bryant Welch (Burien, WA/Mount Rainier) each finished with a time of 7.16 in the 60m preliminaries to qualify for the finals, with Welch placing 7th (7.16) in the finals and Broxton Jr. following in 8th (7.29). Sophomore Daniel Jones (Ferndale, WA) placed 11th in the preliminaries (7.21).
During the 60m qualifying race, Broxton Jr. was 2nd (7.22), Welch 3rd (7.23), Jones tied for 6th (7.29) and sophomore Aaron Bosscher (Lynden, WA/Cornerstone Christian) 22nd (7.54).
Freshman Garrett Davies (Vancouver, WA/Mountain View) finished 9th in the high jump with a mark of 1.90m (6-2 ¾).
During the meet's first day of competition on Friday, the Vikings had four competitors in action and totaled two WWU top-10 marks in the weight throw by Eddy and freshman Kiana Schwendeman (Bonney Lake, WA).
WWU continues the indoor season next week, returning to University of Washington for two meets with the UW FloTrack Classic (Feb. 9-10) and the UW Open (Feb. 11).
