Distance Medley Relay Highlights SPU Final Qualifier

Men’s distance medley relay records second-fastest time in program history

2/23/2019 10:09:00 PM

SEATTLE, Wash. – The Western Washington University Track & Field program wrapped up meet schedule for the 2019 Indoor Season, with two top-10 program performances highlighting the SPU Final Qualifier held Saturday at Dempsey Indoor on the University of Washington campus.

The men's distance medley relay recorded the second-fastest time in program history at 9:57.56, falling just short of the record of 9:55.00 set in 2007. The relay consisted of senior Liam Cossette, freshman Mark Daniels, senior Kyler Sager and senior James Jasperson.

Redshirt freshman Seren Dances was busy entering several events, including winning the long jump (6.86m/22-6.25) and the 60m Hurdles (8.48). His time in the 60m hurdles entered the WWU record book as the 10th-fastest time in program history.

Senior Tupre Wickliff won the high jump competition clearing 2.02m/6-7.5, just below his PR of 2.03m/6-7.75.

Senior pole vaulter Anna Paradee cleared a season-best 3.87m/12-8.25 to increase her national standing. Paradee entered the meet ranked No. 13 in NCAA Division II with a previous season best of 3.84m/12.7.25. The 2017 First Team All-American after placing 7th at the 2017 NCAA II Indoor Championships is a virtual lock to compete in the 2019 Indoor Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas.

Junior Maddie Taylor won the high jump clearing 1.72m/5-7.75 just missing her season-best of 1.73m/5-8 which entered the weekend 6th-best in the nation.

Freshman Noah Johnson also clocked a 7.09 in the 60m preliminaries, just 1/100th outside of the all-time program top 10.
