John Fuchs has announced that the informational meeting for prospective new team members for the 2020 season will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019.
All interested prospective student-athletes will need to attend this meeting. Exact tryout exercises will be communicated before Sept. 27. Tryouts will be held the following two weeks.
What: 2019-2020 WWU Women's Rowing Tryout Informational Meeting
When: Friday, September 27 at 4 p.m.
Where: Carver Gym 104 (CV104)
- NO Rowing Experience is necessary
- Meeting is INFORMATIONAL
- Actual tryouts will commence the following two weeks

- Insurance Form
- Hold Harmless Form
If you are certain you will be trying out immediately after the informational meeting on September 27, please complete these forms and bring them with you. If you are not sure and you want to hear about the program, you can complete the forms in the following two weeks and tryout then. Either way, please plan on attending the meeting Sept. 27.
For this fall, we have room for about 3-4 rowers and one coxswain. We are looking for fit, hardworking, self-starting athletes that enjoy extreme training. Our program prides itself on being the only varsity sport that is exclusively walk-on. It is that chemistry that has propelled us to be one of the nation's finest.
The program is all inclusive and all students with athletic ability are encouraged to attend the informational meeting.

John Fuchs, WWU Rowing has become one of the elite collegiate rowing programs in the country, having won eight NCAA Division II National Championships. The Vikings won the 2017 NCAA II title, placed 2nd in 2018 and 3rd in 2019. WWU has competed in the NCAA Championships in 18 of the last 19 seasons, taking home the gold (8 times) or silver (4 times) medal 12 times in the 18 years the NCAA Division II team title has been awarded. Western won seven consecutive DII national championships from 2005-2011. In 17 trips to the NCAA Rowing Championships dating back to 2002, WWU has had its Varsity 4+ and Varsity 8+ reach the grand finals every time.
