A Message from WWU Women's Soccer

10/5/2020 9:49:00 AM

A Message to Fans, Donors and Program Supporters of WWU Women's Soccer from Head Coach Travis Connell:

We hope that you all are doing well, and staying safe and healthy during these times of uncertainty. The WWU Women's Soccer team is deeply missing you cheering in the stands at Harrington Field and competing as we normally would be right now.

While the announcement to suspend fall sports for the 2020-21 season was not a surprise, the disappointment among our staff, coaches, and especially our student-athletes, was deep. While this has been tough, the well-being of our student-athletes is of the utmost importance. We take very seriously our responsibility to ensure their safety both on and off the fields and courts. And in these uncertain and unpredictable times, limiting their travel and exposure to others is the most prudent thing we can do.

Currently, the GNAC Athletic Directors are working on scheduling models for the 2020-21 season. We are optimistic to begin our WWU Women's Soccer season sometime in March.

Our intention is to provide a meaningful season for all of our student-athletes this year. They, like all of us, have been through a lot.  Their grounding force is their sport and their team.  It is critical that we provide the best opportunity for each of them as we face these unprecedented times.

We look forward to seeing you soon at our games down at Harrington Field. Thank you for all that you do for WWU Women's Soccer.

Your WWU Women's Soccer Team
