SEATTLE, Wash. -- Western Washington University senior Bryan Lee set program record in the weight throw on Friday during the first day of competition at the Husky Classic in Dempsey Indoor. 

The senior from Sammamish set the school record on his third and final throw of the event, recording a mark of 17.78m/58-4. He bettered the previous school record of 17.53m/57-6.25 set by Brandon Pless in 2016. Lee finished 9th out of 23 competitors, just missing out on advancing to the final round. Lee's school-record mark also obtained an NCAA II provisional qualifying mark, passing the standard of 17.68m/58-0.25.

Additional Vikings that competed on Friday at the Husky Classic included the following:

• Tupre Wickliff: Placed 4th out of 10 competitors in the high jump tying his season-best of 2.01m/6-7.
• Cordell Cummings: Placed 4th in the 60m hurdles finishing in 8.42.
• Koby Okezie: Placed 6th in teh 60m hurdles in 8.46.
• Hannah Bradley: 14th in 200m in 26.23.
• Bella Foos: 18th in 200m in 27.34.
• Ryan Greenwalt: 12th in 200m in 22.75.
• Aliyah Dawkins: 6th in women's high jump clearing 1.60m/5-3.
• Avery Lux: 19th in weight throw with top mark of 15.99m/52-5.5.

The second day of the Husky Classic begins Saturday with field events at 10 am and running events at 11:30 am. Viking student-athletes scheduled to compete include the following:

• Leanne Kibbee: Long Jump (10 am)
• Ben Malquist: Shot Put (1 pm)
• Kelsey McLean: 60m (11:30 am)
• Sonny Chhim: 400m (12 pm)
• Mosey Brown: 400m (12 pm)
• 4x400m Relay: Bryant Welch, Mark Daniels, Jon Oglesby, Myles Smith (3:25 pm)
