BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University women's golfers
Megan Billeter and
Sarah Shea were recognized as the Great Northwest Athletic Conference co-Golfers of the Week for competition held October 4-10.
WWU's junior co-captains tied for 7th place in the 76-player field at the Westminster Wasatch Invitational over the weekend, recording a 36-hole score of 7-over-par 151. Billeter and Shea, along with a top-10 finish by
Claire Moon, helped lead the Vikings to a 3rd-place finish out of 14 teams.
Earlier in the week, Billeter tied for 19th and Shea tied for 25th place at the Sonoma State Fall Invitational, with WWU tying for 4th place out of 14 teams.
This marks the second time that both Billeter and Shea earned GNAC Golfer of the Week honors during the fall season, with Billeter taking home the award Sept. 13-19 and Shea Sept. 27-Oct. 3. Shea now has three GNAC Golfer of the Week awards in her career, tied for 5th-most in program history.
The Vikings completed the four-tournament fall schedule with three top-four finishes. Billeter leads the team and is 2nd in the GNAC with a scoring average of 76.50 (+4.50 to par), which included a school-record round of 4-under-par 68 at the Saint Martin's Invitational. Shea is 3rd on the team and 10th in the GNAC with a scoring average of 79.25 (+7.25 to par).
