SEASIDE, Calif. – The Western Washington University men's golf team has a solid spot inside the top five following the first two rounds of the Otter Invitational played Monday at Bayonet Golf Course.
Four teams didn't finish their rounds due to darkness near the end of the second round, so results are not official for the second round.
Currently the Vikings are tied for third place in the 15-team field, recording a 15-over-par 303 in the opening round and showing a five-stroke improvement in the afternoon round with a 10-over-par 298.
Senior
Aidan Thain and junior
Jordan Lee turned in the top performances Monday both inside the top 15 in the 91-player field at 5-over-par 149.
Thain shot rounds of 1-over-par 73 and 4-over-par 76.
Lee turned in rounds of 6-over-par 78 in the morning and came back with a 1-under-par 71. Both players carded six birdies on the day while playing the difficult par 72, 6,799 layout. They are listed tied for 11th place with one player in the top 20 still needing to play one more hole in the second round.
Freshman
Conrad Brown is also inside the top 20 with rounds of 76-75=151 and freshman
Cole Reynolds turned in matching rounds of 4-over-par 76 to sit at 8-over-par 152.
Four teams – Cal State San Bernardino, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Sonoma State, Dominican – will complete their final holes Tuesday morning and roll right into the final round with the same pairings as today.
Mark Williams of Cal State San Bernardino and Ryan Parry of host Cal State Monterey Bay hold a four-stroke lead for individual medalist honors at 2-under-par 142.
THE FINAL ROUND
The Vikings conclude the fall tournament schedule Tuesday with the final round of the Otter Invitational. A shotgun start is scheduled for 8 am on the Bayonet Golf Course. The final round leaderboard can be tracked online via Golfstat with a direct link at
