SOUTH JORDAN, Utah – The Western Washington University women's golf team completed the fall portion of its schedule with another top-five finish, placing 3rd out of 14 teams at the Westminster Wasatch Invitational at Glenmoor Golf Club.

After battling the elements during both days of the 36-hole tournament, WWU recorded a first-round score of 308, and showed a two-stroke improvement with a 18-over-par 306 on Saturday to finish at 38-over-par 614. The Vikings were one stroke back of 2nd-place Biola (+37, 613) and eight strokes behind team champion Colorado Christian (+30, 606).

"This team has a lot of potential, and in four fall tournaments had three top-four finishes," said WWU Director of Golf Luke Bennett. "I am looking forward to a solid offseason and coming out ready to play in the spring."

Junior co-captains Megan Billeter and Sarah Shea tied for 7th in the 76-player field with a two-round total of 7-over-par 151. Billeter opened the tournament with a 2-over-par 74, and completed the fall with a 5-over-par 77 on Saturday. Shea matched Billeter's solid round from Friday with a 2-over-par 74-Saturday which included 16 pars and two bogeys.

"Megan played very solid on the back nine. Another solid finish for the co-captain," said Bennett. "Sarah was extremely steady today adding up to a great round of golf."

Freshman Claire Moon continued her solid play with a 2-over-par 74, recording four birdies, and tied for 10th place at 9-over-par 153. Moon led all players in the tournament with seven birdies.

"Claire got off to a slow start today, but she showed her talents on the last 11 holes going 2-under-par during that stretch," said Bennett. "It was awesome to see her birdie two of her final three holes."

Freshmen Jaclyn Yoo and Lina Hattenbach tied for 48th place at 22-over-par 166.

Brady Turnquist of Biola led wire-to-wire to take home individual medalist honors finishing at 2-over-par 146. Emily Donaldson (Colorado Christian), Faith Kilgore (Colorado Christian) and Yuliana Yapur (Texas A&M International) tied for 2nd three strokes back at 5-over-par 149.
