Due to unplayable field conditions at Viking Field from recent snow, overnight freezing temperatures and rain, Saturday's (2/20/21) non-conference softball doubleheader between Western Washington University and the University of Puget Sound has been postponed.
The two schools will work to schedule the games at a later date as both programs continue to prepare for the 2021 season.
This marks the second consecutive weekend the Vikings have had a doubleheader postponed, as the February 13 games vs. Northwest University were also postponed due to a heavy snowstorm.Â
WWU will look to officially get on the diamond for the first time in 2021 next weekend hosting Pacific Lutheran University in a non-conference doubleheader at Viking Field starting at noon. The game will be closed to fans, but will feature a
live webcast via VikingsTV on YouTube with Ben Bagley on the call.
The official 2021 Great Northwest Athletic Conference schedule has also been announced, and will feature 28 games for each of the six member schools. The first eight contests of the schedule, slated to open March 5-7, will be non-conference games. The Vikings open GNAC play with a pair of doubleheaders at rival Central Washington March 6 and March 7 in Ellensburg. The complete 2021 schedule, with live stats and webcasts links, can be viewed at
