BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University women's senior soccer players
Darby Doyle and
Natalie Dierickx have swept the final Great Northwest Athletic Conference weekly awards for the 2020-21 season.
The Vikings completed the spring season with a 3-1 victory over Central Washington on Saturday at Harrington Field, completing a 4-1-2 record.
Doyle (Spokane, WA/Gonzaga Prep) earned her second GNAC Player of the Week honor by scoring the game-winning goal early in the second half in the 48
th minute in the victory over the Wildcats. Doyle was also selected as the GNAC Offensive Player of the Week during her junior season in 2019 (Oct. 28-Nov. 3).
Dierickx (Kirkland, WA/Inglemoor) logged 60 scoreless minutes in goal for the Vikings, and also assisted on the Vikings third goal with a long pass to set up the score. This marks her fourth career GNAC Defensive Player of the Week award, tying for second-most by a Viking in program history and tied with
Jamie Arthurs for the most by a WWU goalkeeper.
WWU earned six GNAC Player of the Week awards during the shortened seven-game spring schedule:
