BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Western Washington University cross country team returns to action this week with competitions on Friday and Saturday.
The Vikings will send 14 runners to St. Paul, Minnesota (7 men, 7 women) to compete in the 2021 Roy Griak Invitational and the remainder of the team will face Saturday in Lacey at the Ken Garland Classic hosted by Saint Martin's University.
In the current USTFCCCA regional rankings, the men are listed No. 7 in the West Region and the women 10. WWU's men's squad is also receiving votes in the national Division II poll.
WWU opened the 2021 season after nearly 700 days away from competition on September 11 at the CWU Invitational in Ellensburg. The men's squad dominated the 6K race finishing 1st with five scoring runners all finishing in the top 10 in the 60-athlete race. The women placed 2nd with three runners finishing in the top six.
Here is the list of Vikings that are scheduled to compete at the Roy Griak Invitational on the Les Bolstad Golf Course. The men's 8K race is scheduled to start at 12 pm CT/10 am PT and the women's 6K will begin at 12:45 pm CT/10:45 am PT.
And here is a look at WWU's entries for the Ken Garland Classic that will race on Saturday on the campus of Saint Martin's University. The women's 6K is scheduled to begin at 10:50 am and the men's 8K will follow at 11:40 am.
