GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Western Washington University women's golf team finished 9th out of 19 teams at the Shootout at Estrella.
WWU finished the 36-hole tournament at 51-over-par 627, securing its spot in the middle of the pack of a deep tournament. The Vikings shot a final round team score of 28-over-par 316 on the par 72 Golf Club at Estrella. Cal State San Marcos took top team honors with a two-round score of 22-over-par 598 for a six-stroke victory.
Junior
Sarah Shea led the Vikings placing 19th in the 104-player field, recording a 3-over-par 75 in Tuesday's final round. Shea was at even par in her round through the first nine holes, but carded a triple-bogey seven on hole 15. The junior co-captain maintained her composure to record eight consecutive pars to complete her round.
Freshman
Claire Moon moved up the leaderboard to tie for 36th place with rounds of 79-78 to finish at 13-over-par 157. Junior
Megan Billeter and freshman
Jaclyn Yoo had matching two-day totals of 160 to tie for 51st place.
There was a three-way tie for individual medalist honors held by Raquel Prado (Point Loma), Breann Horn (Cal State San Marcos) and Drishti Karumbaya (Cal State East Bay) at 1-under-par 143.
