PITTSBURG, Kan. – Western Washington University's
Mac Franks earned First Team All-America honors placing 6th in the 800 meter run at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Robert W. Plaster Center on the Pittsburg State University campus.
Franks (Lake Forest Park, WA/Shorecrest) ran a gutsy men's 800-meter final to bring home an All-American trophy. Running once again on the inside lane, Franks recovered from being tripped and pushed to keep his feet and his momentum and finished in a time of 1:51.88. Originally awarded seventh place, Franks was moved to sixth after Ethan Lang of Fort Hays State was disqualified.
The All-America honor capped a monumental indoor season for Franks that included setting the program records in the 800m (1:50.07), mile (4:02.28), 3,000m (8:09.40) and as a member of distance medley relay running the anchor leg (9:50.83).
