AZUSA, Calif. – Making her outdoor multis debut,
Matty Lagerwey of the Western Washington University Track & Field team is in 12th place in the women's heptathlon at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
Competing in Group C of the seven-event heptathlon, Lagerwey (La Conner, WA) accumulated 2,510 points in the first four events on Wednesday at Cougar Stadium, while setting three personal best marks. Lagerwey is one of 76 total competitors in three sections of the women's heptathlon.
Lagerwey recorded 717 points placing 12th out of 22 competitors in the 100m hurdles in a time of 15.98. Her second-best point total of the day came in the 200m, clocking 27.51 seconds for a 13th-place finish for 670 points. She also set a PR in the shot put placing 4th with a throw of 10.76m/35-3.75 to earn 579 points.
The heptathlon wraps up Thursday at the Bryan Clay Invitational, with the long jump, javelin and 800m remaining on the schedule. Competition is scheduled to start at 8:30 am with live results posted at
