BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Western Washington University Track & Field program hosted the first of two home meets during the 2022 season on Saturday with the WWU Team Invitational.
The Vikings won both the men's and women's competitions while competing against the University of British Columbia and Central Washington University. The WWU men scored 67 points to finish just ahead of the 59 by UBC and the WWU women scored 117 points to finish ahead of the 45 points of UBC. Team scores were recorded using the Alternate Scoring guidelines: 5-3-2-1 for the top 4 individuals regardless of affiliation and 5-3-2-0 for relays (only one relay per institution may score).
The meet held at Civic Stadium in Bellingham was highlighted by 12 event wins by the men and seven event wins by the women. Three top-10 program marks also were established during the meet.
Senior
Amanda Short won the women's javelin competition with a throw of 47.48m/155-9 just missing her personal-best mark of 47.62m/156-3 set in 2019. Her season-best mark will likely move her into the top five in the nation when results are recorded from this weekend.

Drew Weber won the 800m in 1:51.78 for the No. 4 time in WWU history and just outside of the NCAA provisional mark criteria of 1:51.64.
Additional top-10 program marks achieved by the Vikings on Saturday included
