BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University senior shortstop
Tatum Dow has been recognized for her standout performance in the classroom after being selected to the College Sports Information Directors of America's (CoSIDA) Division II Academic All-District 8 Softball Team.
This is Dow's second selection to the academic all-district team after also being recognized during the 2021 season. She was among four student-athletes from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference to earn the award. Dow is the first Viking softball player to earn consecutive Academic All-District 8 awards.
The Academic All-District teams are nominated and voted upon by members of CoSIDA and recognize student-athletes of sophomore standing or higher who are starters or significant reserves for their teams with a minimum GPA of 3.30 or better. The players selected will be put up for consideration for the Academic All-America Team, which will be announced in June.
Dow graduated from WWU following the winter quarter carrying a 3.91 GPA as an elementary education major. She recorded another stellar season on the field where she earned a spot on the GNAC All-Conference Second Team. Dow batted .333 (59-for-177) with 15 doubles, 3 home runs and 23 RBI and set the WWU record with a 20-game hitting streak. As a junior in 2021 Dow earned Second Team All-America honors.
WWU finished the 2022 season with a 29-24 record, advancing to the GNAC Championships for the second consecutive season.
