ALLENDALE, Mich. – Western Washington University freshman Drew Weber placed 16th in the men's 800m during the second day of the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships on the Grand Valley State University campus.

The only Viking in competition on Friday, Weber clocked his third-fastest 800m of the season in 1:50.76, but did not advance to Saturday's nine-runner final. Weber finished 7th in the third (and fastest) heat, with five advancing to the final.

Weber (Vancouver, WA/Fort Vancouver) concluded a solid 2022 season that included twice setting the WWU 800m record, with a personal-best time of 1:49.48 in the GNAC Championship prelims. A week prior to the GNAC Championships, Weber took down the 22-year-old school record clocking 1:49.81.

WWU concludes action at the 2022 NCAA Championships Saturday with Amanda Short competing in the Javelin beginning at 10:30 am PT and Calahan Warren in the finals of the 1500m at 11:25 am PT.

Warren qualified for the finals of the 1500m for the second consecutive year with the sixth-best prelim time of 3:43.68 on Thursday evening. Warren will look to earn All-America honors once again after placing 6th in the same event at the same venue in 2021.

Short is seeded No. 5 in the javelin with a season-best throw of 47.48m/155-9. She was Second Team All-American in 2019 placing 10th and is making her third trip to nationals.

On Thursday, Mac Franks (1500m) and Ila Davis (Steeplechase) both placed 13th in their respective events to just miss a qualifying spot for the finals.
