BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University freshman
Drew Weber has been selected as the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week award for competition held May 2-8.
Weber placed 2nd and was the top NCAA Division II runner in the 800m at Saturday's Portland Twilight, setting the WWU outdoor record in 1:49.81. Weber broke the outdoor school record by 3/100th of a second that was set in 2000 by WWU Athletics Hall of Famer Devin Kemper (1:49.84).
The sub-1:50 time for Weber also moved him into the No. 7 spot in GNAC history and is currently 21st in NCAA Division II.
The Vikings are back in action this weekend with the GNAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships Friday and Saturday (May 13-14) at the CWU Recreation Sports Complex in Ellensburg.
