Calley Heilborn registered 11 kills and nine digs as the No. 3 nationally-ranked Western Washington University volleyball team opened the season with a 3-0 sweep over No. 20 Ferris State University.
The match featuring the pair of nationally-ranked teams opened the three-day, six-team, 12-match WWU Invitational hosted by the Vikings on WECU Court in Carver Gym.
WWU hit .344 as a team and recorded nine service aces en route to the 25-8, 25-19, 29-27 sweep over the Bulldogs.Â

Olivia Fairchild added 10 kills on a .643 hitting percentage and senior opposite

The Vikings (1-0) are back in action Thursday evening in the final match of the opening day of the tournament hosting Sonoma State University at 7:30 pm.
