BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University senior outside hitter
Calley Heilborn has been selected as the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for competition held September 5-11.
Heilborn (Auburn, WA/Auburn Riverside) averaged 4.00 digs per set in a pair of GNAC sweeps over Seattle Pacific and Montana State Billings to open the conference slate. Heilborn also contributed 2.83 kills per set, tallied three service aces and tallied her fifth double-double of the season in the victory over MSUB.
This marks the 10th all-time GNAC Player of the Week honor in Heilborn's career (Defense – 8, Offense – 2) to tie the all-time program record with Kayleigh Harper (2015-19).
In 10 matches this season, Heilborn is averaging 2.58 kills and 3.37 digs per set. WWU is 7-3 to open the 2022 season with Heilborn amongst the league leaders with five double-doubles.
WWU (7-3) is back in action this weekend hosting Simon Fraser University on Saturday (9/17) in a 7 pm match on WECU Court in Carver Gym.
