BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University sophomore midfielder
Morgan Manalili has been selected as the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for games played October 9-15.
Manalili recorded a five-point week while leading the Vikings to a pair of conference road victories extending the team's winning streak to four consecutive games.
The sophomore was credited with an assist on the Vikings first goal in a 3-1 win at Montana State Billings on Thursday and recorded her first career brace to account for both goals in the 2-1 win on Saturday at Simon Fraser.
In 14 games this season, Manalili is the team leader with eight points, scoring three goals and tallying two assists. In 38 career games over two seasons, the 2022 GNAC Freshman of the Year has notched 13 goals and seven assists for 33 points.
"Morgan is a real versatile player and helps our team in so many different ways," said WWU head coach
Travis Connell. "It's exciting because you never know which way she's going to go in a game, and she looked goal-dangerous throughout both the games last week. The goals she scored were both off of restarts which she works really hard at in training every week. She really showed her versatility scoring with her head and off the set piece."
The Vikings are 7-3-3 overall and in 2nd place in the conference standings with a 5-1-2 record. WWU completes a string of four consecutive road games this week at Northwest Nazarene and Central Washington and then closes the regular season with four consecutive home games at Harrington Field.
