WAIMEA, Hawai'i – The Western Washington University men's golf team opened its two-tournament trip to Hawai'i with a 36-hole day at the HPU Sharks Shootout presented by Southwest Airlines.
The Vikings were unable to find any momentum during the first two rounds of the 54-hole tournament, ending the day in 16th place out of 17 teams in the field. WWU is at 33-over-par 609 with tournament leader Texas-Permian Basin at 9-under-par 567.
Junior
Seth King paced the Vikings with back-to-back solid rounds of 1-over-par 73 and 2-over-par 74 on the par 72 Mauna Lani Golf Course on the Big Island. King is tied for 28th place in the 92-player field heading into Tuesday's final round.
Freshman
Nathan Yocam is tied for 44th at 6-over-par 150 following matching rounds of 3-over-par 75 and sophomore
Peter Dionne-Yahr is tied for 67th at 12-over-par 156 (78-78).
THE FINAL ROUND
Tuesday's final round features an 7:30 am HST/10:30 am PT shotgun start with the Vikings starting lineup beginning on holes 5-6-7-8-9 and the individuals on holes 15-17. Live scoring is available through Golf Genius at
