WAIMEA, Hawai'i – The Western Washington University men's golf team sits in 11th place out of 17 teams at the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate with the first round played Friday at Hapuna Golf Course.
WWU carded a first-round score of 8-over-par 296 to close within five shots of the top five teams. Texas-Permian Basin holds the team lead with a scorching first-round score of 15-under-par 273, followed by Colorado Christian at 6-under-par 282.
Freshman
Nathan Yocam leads the Vikings in a tie for 12th place in the 92-player field following a 1-under-par 72. Sophomore
Peter Dionne-Yahr is tied for 29th at 1-over-par 73 and junior
Seth King is tied for 41st at 2-over-par 74.
Saturday's final round of the 36-hole tournament is scheduled to begin at 7:30 am HST (10:30 am PT) with the Vikings scheduled to tee off holes 9-11.
