SEATTLE, Wash. – Western Washington University junior
Drew Weber virtually locked up a trip to Virginia for NCAA Division II nationals punching his ticket with a sub 1:50 time in the 800m Saturday at the Ken Shannon Last Chance Invite in Dempsey Indoor.
Weber broke the school record of 1:50.07 set last season by
Mac Franks with a time of 1:49.86 on Saturday finishing fifth behind four Pac-12 runners. Weber became just the fourth GNAC runner to go under 1:50 in the indoor 800m, ranking No. 4 in conference history.
The junior from Vancouver entered the meet with a season-best mark of 1:50.36 that began the day ranked No. 13 in the nation. Weber won the 800m at the GNAC Championships earlier in the week at The Podium in Spokane in a time of 1:52.53.
The NCAA Division II Track & Field Championships will be held March 10-11 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The field for the NCAA Championships will be announced on Tuesday, February 28. The complete 2023 WWU Track & Field schedule can be viewed online at
