BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University junior
Drew Weber has been selected as the GNAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week.
Weber became just the fourth GNAC athlete to run under 1 minute, 50 seconds for the indoor 800 meters, clocking a time of 1:49.86 at the Ken Shannon Last Chance Invite. Weber placed fifth behind four Pac-12 runners and now has the No. 12 time in Division II this season and is No. 4 on the GNAC all-time list.
The Vancouver native broke the school record of 1:50.07 set last season by
Mac Franks. Earlier in the week, Weber won the 800m at the GNAC Championships
Weber is in a good spot to be selected for a spot in the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships that will be held March 10-11 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
He becomes the third WWU student-athlete to earn GNAC Athlete of the Week honors for the indoor track & field season, joining throwers
Raine Westfall (Dec. 5-11) and
Miller Campbell (Jan. 23-29).
